Studio Kluif

Studio Kluif is a design studio set up by Jeroen Hoedjes and Paul Roeters in the summer of 1999. Currently, the Kluif team has 10 people all of whom are home-grown or foreign designers. Without losing sight of the original core values, that is, simplicity, humor and putting things into perspective, Studio Kluif has developed during the past 10 years into becoming a fully fledged and multifaceted design studio. Two books full of Kluif work, ‘Purists are boring’ and ‘Pacifist punks’, have proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Studio Kluif box with bone-shaped paperclips and ‘Why join the navy?’ postcard, 2007

The Dutch word ‘kluif’, the name of our studio, means ‘bone’. Our dog Lola was our mascot for years but now she is in heaven. Kluif produced a box with bone-shaped paperclips as a giveaway. Bite-size, for all your business needs!

Studio Kluif ‘Shelter 4 all’ guerrilla campaign, 2008

Studio Kluif developed a guerrilla campaign called ‘Shelter 4 all’ to pay attention to those who are less fortunate in our society. Don’t forget, there’s life under the bridge!

Studio Kluif corporate identity, 1999

Despite a low starter’s budget, Studio Kluif wanted a colourful corporate identity. The decision was taken to print all basic items in only one fluorescent colour and one part, a sheet of labels, in full-colour. This ensured that the printing costs were kept within the margins. All items were given a unique personality and a colourful layer by using full-colour labels. Not a single letter, package or invoice was ever exactly the same.

Studio Kluif Christmas card, 2008

A Christmas card with the three kings and the star of Bethlehem. Extremely boring Kluif. Be aware, there’s more than meets the eye. Don’t take things for granted, look critically and you’ll be surprised.
